On December 19th, 2008 we held our second blood drive which had more outcome than our first. It was a busy day for some people since it was also the day of the school’s Winter Fair. A lot of students and teachers wanted to enjoy the food and entertainment but they had to work the blood drive or attend their appointments. The recruitment committee worked extremely hard to meet their goal on the number of people they could get to give blood that day. Even on the day of the blood drive, recruiters were walking around campus trying to get teachers and staff members to stop by the gym and give blood. Even students who were old enough to give blood gave blood. Patients either set up their appointment in advance or they went in as walk-ins and made their appointment right there. Waialua High School teacher and coach Kris Kositwongsakul made his appointment from the previous blood drive. Kositwongsakul has given blood multiple times and he said he donates blood because he wants “to help other people, save lives and to support the school of course.” We hope to see just as much progress at our next blood drive which will be held in May 15.
