On October 3rd, 2008, Team 359 traveled to the neighboring island of Maui, via the new Super Ferry, to perform a robotics demonstration for the RoboTech Maui Expo at the Maui County Fair. The demonstration featured this past season’s Overdrive robot, Poi Pounder VIII, and a presentation about the FIRST Robotics Competition. We also brought along our trophies and banners to proudly display our team’s accomplishments.   Hundreds of people gathered in the Baldwin High School Gymnasium to see the various displays of robotic exhibits. The main goal for the expo was to draw students into considering a future in science, technology, engineering and math. Displays at the expo included four of the six statewide robotic programs- FIRST Robotics, VEX Robotics, Botball and FIRST Lego League. We highly enjoyed being part of this extraordinary opportunity to educate and inspire the minds of Hawaii’s youth.
