Over the span of two days, Team 359 had several events with The Milken Family Foundation. On Friday, February 10, 2012 Dr. Jane Foley, the Senior Vice President of Milken Educator Awards, visited Waialua High and Intermediate School. While here, she was given a tour of the Waialua Robotics facilities and several robot demonstrations to see what exactly robotics in Waialua is all about. The Hawaiian Kids were at the school bright and early preparing for her visit so that they could show exactly why Mr. Lee was chosen as the Milken Award Winner. Her tour stared off in the Documentation Room where she was shown a brief VEX robot demonstration and the team’s 2011 Charmains award video. Glenn Lee talked about several subjects and some of the students in the room shared their stories relating to robotics. She was then showed the Auto Shop and was introduced to the machinists. Next stop was the Testing Room where she was given an explanation of this year’s FIRST Robotics Competition game. Robot drivers also did a demonstration of last year’s robot Ho’okahi. The team then said their goodbyes to Dr. Jane Foley and thanked her for coming all the way to Hawaii to visit the team. |
