Kahala Mall Robot Demonstration

The Hawaiian Kids teamed up with Art Kimura the program director of Hawaii Space Grant College and Future Flight Hawaii’s Weird Science Team made up of Dale Olive (Waiakea High School) and Roger Kwok (Leeward Community College) to promote Engineering Week at Kahala Mall on Saturday May 17, 2008.  On the hour the Weird Science Team put on humorous science presentations followed by a robot demonstration by Team 359 on the half hour.

Art Kimura served as the MC and also spoke about First Lego League, VEX and micro bots in Hawaii. A booth about our program and a display of this year’s awards were also set up to assist in inspiring children to become a part of FIRST. The day proved to be successful; many students and parents approached our team asking how they could become involved with FIRST and the demonstrations put on by the Weird Science Team definitely got the audience interested in science.
