VRC WAIANAE HIGH SCHOOL

OCTOBER 2025

Our teams competed at Waianae High School on October 25th, 2025!

INTENSE MATCHES

Twenty-four great teams from all over the island assembled at the Waianae High School Halloween VEX VRC Tournament. They all wanted to show off the robots and skills they had worked hard on. This year's game, Push Back, requires students to score blocks in goals. In the long goals, there are control zones. Whichever alliance has more blocks scored in the control zone gets a bonus of 10 points! This bonus was a tie breaker for teams, and they fought to have their alliance blocks securely in the zone. Only 15 blocks can be scored in a long goal, so teams fought to make the most of those 15 theirs. The whole day was filled with very close and thrilling matches, some teams winning by a mere point! Teams also competed for the Skills Challenge, ready to demonstrate their talent in coding and precise driving.

TOURNAMENT RESULTS & CELEBRATIONS

As qualification matches came to an end! Our teams were excited to choose their new partners. 3590A was invited to join 96789Z, Mililani Mechs, as the first seed alliance. 359C joined forces with 3685D, Dreadnauts. 3590C teamed up with 96789S, Mecha Force. 3590B paired up with 2459C, Golden Hawks Robotics. 359B partnered with 4142C, Calamity. Sadly, during the Qualification Matches, Team 359D had complications with their robot and chose not to compete in the Elimination rounds. All of our teams were ready to rumble!

ARRIVAL AND PREPARATION

Teams 359B, 359C, 359D, 3590A, 3590B, and 3590C arrived at Waianae High School at the crack of dawn, prepared for the exciting day ahead of them! Since the summer, they have been working hard, meeting almost every day to build their robots, program, and practice their driving skills. Now's the moment where they can show how hard they have worked! After the doors opened, our teams quickly got to work setting up their pits, plugging in batteries, and preparing for inspection.

ALLIANCE SELECTION

The day drew to a close, and the elimination matches ended. 359B, 3590C, and 3590B were each eliminated in the quarterfinals. 359C was eliminated in the Semifinals. 3590A, with their great strategies, went on with 96789Z to the finals. Both teams played double offense and defense. This toe-curling match was intense, with blocks flying and drivers making split-second decisions. In the end, they won with a score of 69 to 40 and became the Tournament Champions! Each team worked to be the best, and we are so proud of them for pushing through!
