2026 FRC Hawaii Regional

March 2026

It's the second week of competition season, and we are now competing at home, Honolulu, Hawaii, for the Hawaii Regional! From all over the islands, with a couple of teams coming from beyond our country, 30 teams had competed in this event. Right before the tournament, there was a huge storm. Our team members were fortunate, but many people and families in our community lost their homes and livelihoods. Learn more about the storm in the link below.

QUALIFICATION MATCHES

On the second day of Hawaii Regional, practice matches come to a close to get the qualification matches started. We had a few setbacks that happened during qualification 13. Just after the autonomous period, our shooter had malfunctioned, giving the win to our opposing alliance with an end score of 106-166. On match 42, after many attempts at repairing the broken shooter, we got the shooter to be at its best. We paired up with 6497 and 6191, and with the collaboration of our robots and our fixed shooter, we hit the high score of the regional, 429! In the end, our record was 15-2-0 (win-loss-tie) ranking us 3rd of the 30 teams. Now, we move on to the alliance selection!

FINALS

Being ranked 3rd, we couldn’t be alliance captains for the first seed, but we still had the opportunity to be a part of the first seed. Team 11019, X.PLORE who had ranked 1, chose us as their first pick. After we accepted, 11019 then went on to pick 9715, Tsinelas’, completing our alliance for the intense upcoming matches. Now, it’s time for the playoffs!

PRACTICE MATCHES

Due to the unfortunate event, many team members were stuck at home and not able to attend day one of this competition. Lucky enough for us, there were still members and mentors that had the chance to make it for the load-in and practice matches. The practice matches are crucial, as it allows us to have a feeling of the field and make any adjustments with our robot or our autonomous. As we end the day of practice, we feel confident for competition time!

ALLIANCE SELECTION

After our nail-biting matches during the playoffs, we advanced to finals! 8871, 6497, and 4270 also advanced to the finals, becoming our opposing alliance. Now we see who will be the champion of the Hawaii Regional. During final 1, the opposing alliance had problems during autonomous, giving us the advantage going into teleop. In the end, we won with a score of 339-109! Now, the tensions are high as we’re only 1 win away from becoming the champions of this event. This match was closer in score. This time 4270 was precise on their robot placement, allowing them to hit their autonomous. The crowd gasped as the scores got closer and closer, but in the end, our alliance got the win with a score of 303-261, making us the Regional winner of the Hawaii Regional!

IMUA WAIALUA!

We could not be more proud of our amazing lead of Business, Media, and Documentation, Janel Lee, who just became one of the Hawaii FIRST Leadership Award Finalists! We are so glad the hard work she puts into leading her subteam was recognized at the competition level. Janel and her 2 other team members also submitted our team for the FIRST Impact Award. After months of preparing videos, essays, and presentations, our team has won the FIRST Impact Award, which recognizes the impact a team has on its community and beyond. It is always a pleasure to compete in our home state and see new and old friends! A huge thank you to The Crusaders for graciously hosting the Hawaii Regional at their school, and to the mentors on our team for being our guiding light. See us soon at the Idaho Regional from March 4th to March 7th. Mahalo.
