OCTOBER 2026
Our team arrived in El Segundo, California, to attend SoCal Showdown from October 9th-11th!
QUALIFICATION MATCHES
Our robot started having problems in the first match. We thought that updating our Limelight code from the 2026 to the 2027 codebase would fix the issues, but every time we would fix one issue, there would be another one. We went back to what we knew worked, and everything fixed itself, but we would have drive issues with the carnivore: it would disconnect. We realized that the static buildup and the lack of a drag wire were the reasons this happened, and that carrying the robot during configuration instead, while adding 2 drag wires, solved it! We ended qualification matches with a record of 7-3-0 (win-loss-tie) and ranked 8th!
PLAY-OFF MATCH
It’s finally time for the moment everyone was waiting for: Alliance Selection! We were invited by Team 2710, JetStream, to join Alliance 2! We accepted, and together we invited 6220, The Golden Griffins, and 1160, Titanium Robotics, to partner up! Our alliance was formed, and we were ready to tackle whatever came our way.
PRACTICE MATCHES
The day before setting up, our team went to Team 5199's school to pick up our robot. They had kindly taken our robot from Chezy Champs! Then the day had come; we went straight to SoCal Showdown and set up our pit. We assembled our robot, but during inspection we found a ground fault; we had to take every ground wire out until we found it on the last branch circuit. After fixing this issue, we were able to test our robot.
ALLIANCE SELECTION
Our first playoff match was match 3, where we played against Alliance 7. It was a fierce match, with each alliance scoring as much fuel as they could. We scored 460-255 and advanced to playoff match 8! In this match, we had issues with our drag wire. We had unfortunately lost and moved to the lower bracket for matches 10 and 12. Unfortunately, in match 13, our alliance was not performing at our best and lost 520-339, eliminating us. Thank you to our alliance for working so hard and persevering no matter what!

LOOKING AHEAD
This is our second off-season tournament with our new drive team, and we can say that we have drastically improved! A special thanks goes to our mentors for being there for us even when things got hard. Their support made difficult situations easier. We had a blast returning to SoCal Showdown and meeting friends, some old and some new. We even had an impact exchange with teams 4201 and 589, each presenting our teams’ initiatives and answering questions. Even with all of our technical issues, we still managed to place high and make it far into the playoffs. We brought home more experience with Systemcore and driving, and are sure to perform at our best at our next off-season tournament: Beach Blitz!
