Week Five

Aloha! Welcome to the Fifth week of the 2026 REBUILT Build Season!

Check out our Week Five recap on Youtube!

Day 31

We are back with week 5, and it’s day thirty-one! The Control Systems subteam resumed testing and updating the subsystems of the practice robot, so they can prepare it for the main season robot. The Construction subteam continued production by CADing more parts, laser cutting, water jetting, CNC machining, and lathing while also fixing the igus chain on the practice robot. The Business, Media, and Documentation subteam took photos for the start of the week and video clips throughout the day, and continued practicing the First Impact Award presentation. Today was a flourish of hard work for our team, and we will continue the momentum moving forward!

Day 32

Day 32 of build season started with a bang, and each subteam was busy at work. The control systems subteam had access to the practice robot to program and test its systems, ensuring it was at its best before the competition robot was built. In addition, they tested new design prototypes to identify the best fit for our robot. The Construction subteam worked hard to continue to make parts for the robot. They used various machines, such as the mill, lathe, and waterjet, to cut precisely. The Business, Media, and Documentation subteam is at the homestretch with First Impact Award submissions; from here on out, they only need to polish their presentation and video for the upcoming competitions. It was a day of hard work, and each subteam made great progress as Day 32 wrapped up.

Day 33

On day thirty-three of build season, the Control Systems subteam started their day by labelling wires so they can begin wiring for the competition robot. They continue to program and test the practice robot, ensuring it is prepared for the competition robot. The Construction subteam continued manufacturing parts for the competition robot, including Water jetting, milling, powder coating, laser cutting, and measuring them. Additionally, they assembled the competition robot drive train and then sent it off to the control systems subteam. The Business, Media, and Documentation subteam continued to take photos and videos throughout the day, while practicing and refurbishing their First Impact Award presentation for the competition. Today was a triumph, and we continue to work hard!

Day 34

Day thirty-four of build season has begun, and each subteam is hard at work. Control systems made minor changes to the robot, like replacing the chain and making new motors. These changes may seem unimportant, but even the smallest changes can make the biggest difference!  Construction continued powdercoating the competition robot parts, layering black pigment, and putting them in the oven to finish them off. They also made additional parts using the waterjet, cutting them precisely and accurately. Business, Media, and Documentation collected clips for the weekly video, took pictures to record the day's progress, and practiced Q&A for the FIRST Impact Award. In addition, they began the video, adding in clips and editing it to match the song chosen for this week. We continue to push ourselves to work hard as we slowly approach the end of week five!

Day 35

Day thirty-five of build season is upon us, and we are continuing our hard work! The Construction subteam is in the home stretch, getting the remaining competition robot parts made to then be powder coated in that nice jet black color. Meanwhile, Control Systems was busy testing out the capabilities of the practice robot and began working on the autonomous’ while also starting to wire what they have of  the competition robot. Business, Media, and Documentation took photos and videos throughout the day, practiced their Impact Award Presentation, ran through some Q&A practice, and continued editing the Week 5 recap. So much has happened today and somehow there's still so much left to do as we near the end of build season!

Day 36

Day thirty-six marks the end of Week 5 and a lot has been done today! Control Systems were hard at work continuing to test and refine the autonomous’ on the practice robot. They also continue to wire the competition robot as Construction gives them more completed robot parts. Speaking of Construction, they finalized the competition robot parts, powder coating and assembling them all in preparation for the making of spare parts. In some of the down time, they were able to also cut the wood needed for the bumpers. Business, Media, and Documentation spent their day taking photos and videos, and working and updating the Impact Award Video. The day ended with a much needed dinner break and we begin to prepare for Week 6.
